(NEW YORK CITY) – October 27, 2015 – Last Monday, CINEMATIQ Magazine attended the long awaited theatrical release of JASON AND SHIRLEY at the Museum for Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City to a packed house! Rajendra Roy, The Celeste Bartos Chief Curator of Film at MoMa introduced director Stephen Winter to the stage to say a few words before the screening. Preceding the film was an intimate discussion with Stephen Winter moderated by Rajendra Roy. Waters and Schulman joined Winter on stage for the second half of the discussion where they discussed their joint collaborative experiences making the film.

JASON AND SHIRLEY was inspired by Shirley Clarke’s 1967 masterpiece PORTRAIT OF JASON. Based on historic events, JASON AND SHIRLEY thrillingly recreates the dark, electrifying, take-no-prisoners 1966 power struggle between Jewish, Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Shirley Clarke and her subject, Jason Holliday, a fierce black gay queen over a 12-hour marathon filming session…” JasonandShirleyfilm.com. The cast includes Jack Waters, Sarah Schulman, Eamon Fahey, Tristan Cowen, Tony Torn, Peter Cramer, Mike Bailey-Gates, Bryan Webster, Denise Dixon and Orran Farmer.

Today, Tuesday, October 27 (7 PM) is your last chance to see the film at MoMA. For ticket information, visit moma.org .

Tonight’s post-screening discussion is led by lead actor, Jack Waters.
